Jenn Clore: A Story of Pumpkins, Unused Winter Coats, EPS Files, Blogs and SEO

Let me take you on a journey. Travel with me on a coming of age story of a plucky, young professional with a go-getter attitude and an undying love for pumpkin-filled everything no matter the season. This adventure starts off in a faraway land called Pennsylvania. Our heroine, Jenn Clore, always loved writing stories when she was little and continued that love in high school when she was a member of her school's literary magazine and the news editor of the student newspaper her senior year. After high school, Jenn entered into Penn State University and focused her creativity into an advertising degree. While at Penn State, Jenn enjoyed projects that focused on creating ad campaigns for national brands such as Jif, Band-Aid and Monte Blanc. While these were only school projects, she loved having to brainstorm and bring to life catchy lines and slogans that captured the brand messaging. In 2004 Jenn knew it was time to enter the real world. Plus her Dad said she had to get a real job. After taking almost a year to "discover herself" (hanging out at the parents house, living rent free) Jenn started working at Industrial Training Consultants as a Marketing Specialist.

At her time at ITC, Jenn learned about corporate branding through promotional product marketing. More than just pens and post-its, Jenn was tasked in presenting clients with the best product at the best price and quality that the company would be proud to attach their logo to. She learned about pantone colors, texture of materials, the meaning behind various graphic design lingo such as gradients, vectors, and eps files. Her favorite project at ITC was coming up with the fun puns and taglines to be used in their client, Lorillard’s branded monthly planner that would be distributed throughout the 1000+ employee company. The custom made planner included custom safety illustrations with catchy little lines reminding the employees about safety. (See a sample of the planner in the "My Designs" tab)

In 2011, Jenn moved to the friendly and innovative state of Oklahoma. Although she had to leave behind the actual season of Fall, she still brought with her a closet full of winter coats (which five years later still haven't been utilized) and her passion for the creative. An online safety training company, SafetySkills (then called noodleStream) offered Jenn a marketing coordinator position before she even arrived in the state. By the time she made the thr hour, multiple car caravan to Oklahoma, she was ready to hit the ground running. SafetySkills open her eyes to the world of digital marketing. Jenn had the opportunity to learn and run Google Adwords campaigns, delve into the encompassing world of SEO, manage social media platforms, dabble in website design and content creation. Proudly, it was there that she wrote her first blog and developed an email newsletter campaign. She was excited to see the jump in traffic to the website each time the monthly newsletter was delivered. Her time at SafetySkills also introduced her to the magic of coding. While Jenn only knows basic coding techniques, she hopes in the near future to take classes in coding to help her better understand the concepts behind the symbols.

In 2014 Jenn accepted the position of marketing administrator at Red River Roofing. Her current responsibilities give her the opportunity to combine her knowledge of brand image from ITC and digital marketing from SafetySkills. This position also provides her with the creative freedom to manage social media campaigns, blogs, newsletters and website content. Jenn also continues to experience many firsts at Red River Roofing, such as writing radio and TV commercial scripts, designing commercial vehicle wraps, and developing print pieces such as postcard mailers, flyers, and brochures. But Jenn's story doesn't end here. Her journey is still beginning. Jenn's goal is to become a one stop shop in marketing, she is looking for an opportunity to grow and learn more about digital marketing through new experiences and new challenges, all while looking for the best new pumpkin flavored treat.
